Airplane mode while charging: a tip with disputed effect

Charging your phone in airplane mode is a popular tip, but in a test the effect was small or even negative.

How to do it

  1. Turn on airplane mode via Control Center (iPhone) or the quick settings (Android).
  2. Connect the device to the charger.
  3. Turn airplane mode off again after charging.

Variations

  • Test data: with airplane mode it took 18 minutes to reach 25 percent, 43 to reach 50 percent and 98 to reach 95 percent; without it, 21, 45 and 92 minutes.
