What you need

  • Password manager (program or app)

How to do it

  1. Choose a password manager and set a long, unique master password.
  2. Let the manager generate a separate password for each account.
  3. Keep the master password safe. If you lose it, there may be no way back into the vault.

Why it works

A password manager usually stores passwords in encrypted form, and a single master password protects the vault.

Variations

  • Turn on two-factor authentication for the manager if it is offered.
