Use the serrated edge of the tape hook as a scribe
Scribe a line without a pencil using the serrated edge on the hook of some tape measures.

- Tape measure with a serrated hook
How to do it
- Check whether your hook has a serrated edge.
- Set the hook against the edge of the workpiece and scribe the line with the serrated edge.
