DIYTried-and-true tip

Use an old nautical chart as a paint shield

Stiff paper from an old nautical chart keeps dripping paint away from parts you want to protect.

Time

Difficulty
◆ medium

What you need

  • Old nautical charts (paper)
  • Tape

How to do it

  1. Slide the stiff chart up under the boot at the joint.
  2. Do this from both sides, fold the corners around the part and secure them with tape.

Variations

  • On boats it is used when applying antifouling around the saildrive (the drive unit). It hasn't been tested for wall painting.
