Rub the grill grate with half an onion

Clean your grill grate with half a raw onion, a simple household trick that has proved its worth.

What you need

Cut a raw onion in half.
Heat the grill grate.
Rub the cut side of the onion over the grate, holding it with oven mitts or tongs.
Turn the onion if needed and rub the grate from both sides.

Use coffee grounds as a scouring agent with a cloth or brush.
Shape a piece of aluminium foil about 20 cm long into a ball and scrub the grate with it.
Baking soda is also mentioned as a household remedy for grates.
