Find a bike tube leak in a water bath by watching for bubbles
Find a puncture in a bike tube using a water bath: rising air bubbles show where the hole is.

What you need
- Container of water
- Ballpoint pen or chalk
- Pump
How to do it
- Take the tube out and inflate it slightly.
- Pull the tube through the water.
- Mark the spot generously with a pen or chalk.
- Dry the spot and clean it thoroughly before patching.
Variations
- Without water: inflate the tube slightly and listen for a hiss, or feel with your hand for escaping air.
