Mount a tyre starting opposite the valve, finishing at the valve
When fitting a bike tyre, start opposite the valve and finish at the valve to make mounting easier.
- Time
- ⏱ 10 min
- Difficulty
- ◆ medium
What you need
- Plastic tyre levers (helpful)
How to do it
- Inflate the tube slightly until it is round and push the valve through the rim hole.
- Make sure the tube isn't pinched between tyre and rim and that the valve stands at a right angle to the rim.
- Start mounting the tyre onto the rim opposite the valve.
- Finish at the valve.
Why it works
The bead being mounted should sit in the rim's deep channel along as long a stretch as possible.
Variations
- Instead of pushing with your thumb, it is often easier to “roll” the bead over the rim edge from the opposite side with the heels of your hands.

Hilfreich ist es immer die Montage gegenüber dem Ventil zu beginnen und am Ventil zu beenden, da sich der zu montierende Reifenwulst auf möglichst langer Strecke im Felgentiefbett befinden sollte.
