Car & bikeTried-and-true tip

Check tyre pressure regularly to keep rolling resistance low

Check your tyre pressure regularly to keep rolling resistance, and so fuel use, low.

Time

Difficulty
◆ easy

What you need

  • Tyre pressure gauge or a petrol-station air pump

How to do it

  1. Check your tyre pressure regularly.
  2. Set it to the value in the owner's manual or on the sticker inside the fuel flap.
  3. Adjust the pressure when you load extra weight.

Why it works

With too little pressure, rolling resistance goes up, and anything with high resistance takes more energy.
