Game ideasTried-and-true tip

Crossing the water on the fisher's call

A tag game: the group must cross the “river” in whatever way the fisher calls out.

Difficulty
◆ easy

What you need

  • Marked playing field

How to do it

  1. One child is the fisher and stands at one end of the marked field, the rest of the group at the other.
  2. The group calls “Fisher, fisher, how deep is the water?” and the fisher names a number, for example “Three metres!”.
  3. The group asks “And how do we get across?” and the fisher calls out a way of moving, such as running, hopping or crawling.
  4. The children must cross in that way. The fisher runs toward them and tries to catch as many as possible.
  5. Caught children help the fisher in the next round.
