Rinsing aphids off with a firm water jet

Rinse aphids off sturdy plants with a firm jet of water from the garden hose.

What you need

  • Garden hose with adjustable nozzle
  • Damp cloth for delicate plants

How to do it

  1. Set the nozzle to a firm but not destructive jet.
  2. Support the affected shoots lightly with one hand.
  3. Aim the jet at leaf undersides and shoot tips.
  4. On balcony plants, seedlings or greenhouse crops, gently wipe off colonies with your fingers or a damp cloth.
