EverydayTried-and-true tip

Don’t swap a sold-out item for a pricier one

If an item is sold out, don’t reach for a pricier substitute. Here is how to stay on budget.

How to do it

  1. Make a note of the sold-out product.
  2. Look for an equivalent product in the same price range as the original.
  3. If nothing fits, skip it or pick it up on your next trip. A detour to another shop only makes sense if the effort is reasonable.

Variations

  • The same goes for special offers: only buy one if it is already on your list.
