Uncle Otto's bath: sentences built on folded paper

A paper-and-pen game: everyone adds one part of a sentence without seeing the rest, then you read out the results.

Difficulty
◆ easy

What you need

  • One sheet of paper per player, turned sideways
  • One pen per player

How to do it

  1. Turn the sheet sideways and write the sentence “Uncle Otto is sitting in the bathtub” as the first row, laid out as a table.
  2. In the next row, under “Uncle”, write a word for a family relation.
  3. Fold the sheet so the first column is hidden and pass it to your neighbour.
  4. In the second column (“Otto”), write a name, fold again and pass on. Keep going until the sentence is complete.
  5. At the end, unfold the sheets and read the sentences aloud.

Variations

  • Change or extend the sentence, e.g. “Uncle Otto is sitting in the bathtub to splash around”. Then everyone adds a sentence part at the end.
