Cinnamon sprinkled on an ant trail drives ants off with its strong smell, a tried-and-tested home remedy.

- Cinnamon (powder or oil)
How to do it
- Sprinkle cinnamon along the ant trail or in front of the entry points.
- Sprinkle more when needed.
Variations
- Cinnamon oil lasts longer.
- Chilli powder works just as well: sprinkle it or cinnamon on ant trails and in front of entry points, around entry spots in the garden, or directly onto the nest. The spices act as a barrier the ants don't want to cross.
