About the Game

Backgammon is one of the oldest board games in existence — a racing and strategy game for two players, each commanding fifteen pieces on a 24-point board. Roll two dice each turn and move your pieces toward your home board, while blocking, hitting, and sending back your opponent's pieces whenever possible. Bear off all your pieces first to win.

Game Mechanics

Each player rolls two dice and moves pieces that number of points in their direction of travel around the board. A point occupied by two or more of your own pieces is blocked — your opponent cannot land there. A single opponent piece on a point is a blot — land on it to hit it and send it to the bar, where it must re-enter before any other pieces move.

Once all fifteen of your pieces have moved to your home board (the final six points), you begin bearing them off by rolling dice values matching their positions. The first player to bear off all fifteen pieces wins the game.
